Araqchi and his entourage arrived in Baghdad on Saturday morning.
During the visit, the foreign minister will present Iran’s positions at the meeting and hold bilateral talks with a number of participating foreign ministers.
The 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is taking place in Baghdad on October 17–18, under the theme "Dialogue and Solidarity: Two Essential Pillars for Promoting Peace and Sustainable Development."
In a statement ahead of the session, OIC Secretary-General Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed emphasized that "the sensitivity of the current phase and the escalation of tensions regionally and internationally redouble our collective responsibility to work toward strengthening stability, consolidating Islamic solidarity, and adopting resolutions commensurate with the scale of current challenges, in parallel with the need to continue developing the OIC’s operational mechanisms and providing it with the necessary resources to enable it to fulfill its role effectively."
