In a statement, the IRGC Navy said the vessel had turned off all its positioning and navigation systems from the outset of its voyage and disregarded the regulations governing passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
The ship encountered the incident while attempting to transit the strait through an unauthorized southern route, the statement added.
The IRGC Navy also warned that vessels operating in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf will face a firm and decisive response if they switch off their navigation and identification systems.
