Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey Hold Quadripartite Security Talks in Tehran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior officials from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey held a quadripartite meeting in Tehran on Monday to discuss regional security and stability amid the repercussions of the recent US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.

The meeting, hosted by Tehran on Monday, October 26, brought together Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council; Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman; Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir; and Ibrahim Kalin, head of Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization.

The talks were held at Pakistan’s proposal and with Iran’s agreement, as regional countries increasingly recognize that security can be ensured only through cooperation and participation by all countries in the region.

Discussions have reportedly covered regional security, the consequences of US-Israeli military aggression against Iran and its continuation, as well as efforts to assist the people of Palestine and Lebanon.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei on Monday described the meeting as a “practical step” toward establishing endogenous regional security based on shared interests. Speaking at a weekly press conference, he said the talks could pave the way for further consultations and cooperation on regional security mechanisms.

Baqaei stressed that developments over the past two years had demonstrated that sustainable and reliable security in the region could not be achieved without trust among regional countries. He said lasting stability depended on the capabilities, determination and security considerations of the countries themselves.

He also noted that the consequences of US aggression would necessarily be addressed during the meeting, alongside issues concerning Palestine, Israel’s expansionist policies and Lebanon. He expressed hope that the talks would lay the groundwork for broader regional cooperation.
