Iranian Navy Destroys Hostile Drone Vessel in Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Navy announced that its forces have destroyed an enemy unmanned surface vessel (USV) operating in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz early Friday.

In a statement on Friday, the Navy said the remotely controlled vessel was struck and destroyed by the Iranian naval forces while it was moving and conducting operations in the area east of the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours of the day.

The statement added that two violating enemy oil tankers have also sustained damage and caught fire after striking sea mines while navigating restricted and unsafe areas east of the Strait of Hormuz with their tracking systems switched off, disregarding issued warnings and regulations.

The Navy stressed that the owners of the tankers would bear full responsibility for any consequences arising from unauthorized navigation and disregard for maritime and safety warnings.

It also warned the enemy that any movement, infiltration or provocative action in areas monitored by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran would be met with a firm and proportionate response.
