The announcement follows Ayatollah Khamenei's martyrdom in a brazen aggressive attack carried out jointly by the criminal US and Zionist regime on Saturday morning, which violated all human norms and international laws.

According to Baghdad Today, the Iraqi government extended condolences to the noble people of Iran and the entire Islamic world over this tragic loss.

In a statement received by Baghdad Today, the Iraqi government spokesperson expressed profound sorrow and grief, describing the incident as "a clear act of aggression and a reprehensible operation that violates all human and moral norms and constitutes a flagrant breach of international laws and conventions."

The spokesperson added that with the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, he crowned his lifelong journey of service to the Iranian people with the crown of martyrdom, remaining faithful to principles, defending his nation against injustice and tyranny, seeking the path of truth, and striving to serve the aspirations of the Islamic Ummah and humanity at large.

In a related development, crowds of Iraqis took to the streets in various cities to mourn the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Supporters of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution held processions and performed mourning rituals in Baghdad, Basra, and Dhi Qar.

Several Iraqi provinces, including Babylon, Maysan, Basra, Diwaniyah, and Wasit, declared Sunday an official holiday in observance of the painful martyrdom of Imam Khamenei in a terrorist attack by American-Zionist criminals.

Governors of the holy cities of Karbala and Najaf also announced an official holiday today following the declaration of Imam Khamenei's martyrdom in the aggressive assault by the US and the Zionist regime, with government offices in these provinces closed.

Prominent Iraqi figures joined in expressions of grief and solidarity.

Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the National Wisdom Movement in Iraq, issued a condolence message on the martyrdom of Imam Khamenei.

In his statement, al-Hakim said: "With hearts filled with sorrow and submission to divine decree, we extend condolences on the martyrdom of His Eminence Grand Ayatollah the great mujahid, Imam Seyed Ali Khamenei (may his noble secret be sanctified) to the Islamic ummah and to seekers of truth worldwide."

He added that the deceased had embarked on a blessed path of knowledge and jihad in the way of God, exerting efforts in service to religion and the issues of the Islamic ummah before departing to meet the Almighty.

The leader of the National Wisdom Movement stated that while regarding him as a martyr in the sight of God, they affirm that the path of goodness and truth will never halt, and the way charted by the departed in service to religion and humanity will remain in the hearts of the sincere and the minds of those seeking good.

Al-Hakim concluded by offering his deepest condolences to the grand religious authorities, the Islamic ummah, and the government and people of Iran.
