Araqchi Lambasts Macron for Silence on US-Israeli Aggression

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for his lack of response to the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran, highlighting the discrepancy between Macron's statements and his failure to condemn attacks on Iranian civilians.

In a post on his X account on Thursday, Araqchi expressed his disappointment with French President Emmanuel Macron’s silence regarding the ongoing US-Israeli military campaign against Iran.

“Macron has not uttered one word of condemnation of the Israel-US war on Iran. He did not condemn Israel when it blew up fuel storage in Tehran, exposing millions to toxins. His current ‘concern’ didn't follow Israel's attack on our gas facilities. It follows our retaliation. Sad!” the top Iranian diplomat said.

Araqchi also cited an X post by Macron who said, “I have just spoken with the Emir of Qatar and President Trump following the strikes that hit gas production facilities in Iran and Qatar today. It is in our common interest to implement, without delay, a moratorium on strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, particularly energy and water supply facilities. Civilian populations and their essential needs, as well as the security of energy supplies, must be protected from military escalation.”

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
