Baku Rejects CNN Allegations of Israeli Military Presence, Operations against Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Azerbaijan Republic rejected a CNN report alleging that its territory was used for military or intelligence operations against Iran and that Israeli forces were deployed on Azerbaijani soil, describing the claims as “entirely baseless” and part of a disinformation campaign.

World

In a commentary released on June 5, the Republic of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada dismissed the allegations contained in a CNN World article, saying Baku had repeatedly denied such claims and had officially communicated its position to the American media outlet before the report was published.

Hajizada criticized CNN for relying on anonymous sources without presenting credible evidence and for disregarding Azerbaijan’s official response. He said publishing such allegations was inconsistent with the principles of objectivity, impartiality, and professional journalistic ethics.

The spokesperson reiterated that allegations suggesting Azerbaijani territory had been used by any third country for military operations, intelligence activities, or other hostile actions against another state were completely unfounded. He stressed that Azerbaijan has never allowed and will never allow its territory to be used for such purposes.

Emphasizing Azerbaijan’s commitment to peace, stability, and good-neighborly relations in the region, Hajizada described the report as another attempt to spread disinformation through unsupported allegations. He also called on CNN to retract the article and refute the claims it contained.
