US' Destructive Logic Exposed in Attacks on Iran's Civilian Infrastructure: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson strongly condemned the US for attacking civilian infrastructure in Iran, saying Washington has once again demonstrated its "destructive logic" by targeting facilities vital to people's lives and security.

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Esmaeil Baqaei said the US has targeted Iran's civilian facilities and infrastructure in several provinces during its ongoing military aggression.

"They targeted our civilian and non-military facilities and infrastructure in several provinces, and in doing so they once again revealed America's destructive logic," he said.

"An attack on infrastructure is not merely an attack on a few points on a map; it is an attack on human security and on people's lives," the spokesman added.

Baqaei stressed that Iran's people remain united in the face of such attacks.

He stressed that Iran is not a collection of remote islands where one part can be wounded while another remains silent.

The spokesman paid tribute to the people of southern regions of Iran, saying they deserve "more respect and appreciation than ever," describing them as "the guardians of the Persian Gulf and the Makran coasts."

"We condemn the attacks on infrastructure in the strongest possible terms," Baqaei said. "Today we stand alongside the people of southern Iran not as a slogan, but out of friendship. Our coasts are not distant frontiers; they are the closest place to the hearts of Iranians."

He also praised the resilience of the southern population, lauding the Iranian military forces for protecting the country.

His remarks came after Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, Saeed Iravani, called on the UN Security Council to take immediate action over continued US aggression and repeated violations of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

In a letter to the UN secretary-general and the Security Council president, Iravani argued that Washington had systematically breached the June 17 agreement through repeated military attacks, sanctions, support for an alternative maritime route in the Strait of Hormuz, and continued backing of Israeli military operations, urging the Council to compel the US to end its actions and uphold international law.
